Aretha Franklin moves US President Barack Obama to tears with amazing performance
SHE’S long been regarded as the undisputed Queen of Soul.
And Aretha Franklin has just reinforced her position as one of music’s most incredible performers.
Franklin’s rendition of
(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
at the recent Kennedy Center Honors was so moving that it brought US President Barack Obama to tears.
The Queen ... Aretha Franklin takes to the stage.
Her emotional performance — a tribute to singer and songwriter Carole King, who was being honoured at the event — blew the roof off.
King and other guests could not contain their excitement when the First Lady of Soul took to the stage.

She’s the boss ... Aretha Franklin gave a powerhouse performance.
Ever glamorous in a full-length fur coat, the 73-year-old sat down at the piano to belt out the Carole King-penned classic, which is one of Franklin’s signature songs.
A visibly moved Obama, who sat alongside his beaming wife Micheelle, could not contain his emotions and appeared to wipe away tears before the first verse was finished.
It’s too much ... Barack Obama is over come with emotion by Aretha Franklin’s performance.
As Franklin launched into the finale, she stood up and walked to the centre of the stage, removing her fur coat as she hit the high notes to a standing ovation.

It was a triumphant performance for the soul diva, who has suffered various health issues recently but now appears to be fighting fit and in better shape than ever.
Amazed ... Carole King was blown away by the performance.
The Kennedy Center performance has only just aired but was recorded on December 6. Franklin’s next concert takes place on New Year’s Day at The Mohegan Sun Arena, in Uncasville, Connecticut.
