Five schoolchildren detained over plot to bomb high school assembly

FIVE schoolchildren, ages 10 and 11, have been arrested after allegedly plotting to set off a homemade bomb at a high school assembly.
Police were contacted after staff at Clifton Elementary School in New Jersey discovered written plans to attack the assembly at the Clifton High School during a field trip.
A ‘device’ was also found, though a police inspection revealed it contained no explosives and instead was filled with vinegar and cinnamon.

Local TV station Eyewitness News said the children — four boys and a girl — were detained by police and later released to their parents.
Police stressed that incident was not a prank and the children planned to cause damage to the school.
One parent, Pedro Puertis, told CBS: “It’s very disturbing, you know times have changed and it’s a different life now but I guess we’ll just have to cope with it.”
