Second gang-rape accused Brodie Wild applies for bail, as brother Rowan Wild walks from court

THE youngest of four brothers accused of pack-raping a 14-year-old girl in Geelong says the girl voluntarily accompanied them to two properties and claims she kissed his older brother consensually.
Brodie Wild has appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court where he started an application for bail.
Detective Senior Constable Lisa Johnson told the court Brodie Wild was extradited from Queensland after being charged with the rape.
The 20-year-old was already on bail at the time of his arrest for unrelated drug matters in Queensland.
Det Johnson-Boe said Brodie Wild denied sexually assaulting the girl, but said he confirmed she accompanied them to two properties in St Albans Park and had “kissed” his brother Kevin.
Det Johnson-Boe said Brodie Wild voluntarily gave a statement and surrendered a DNA sample to police.
Brodie Wild’s girlfriend — who cannot be named for legal reasons — told magistrate Peter Reardon his return flights to Queensland had been booked months ago, clashing with police claims he had fled to Queensland.
Defence lawyer Amelia Beech is seeking to have elements of the case suppressed and described it as “weak”.
Mr Reardon is expected to rule on Brodie Wild’s bail application on Monday.
Earlier, bother Rowan Wild, 27, was bailed after he was charged with single counts of rape and abduction after handing himself into police on Tuesday, more than a week after the girl’s assault.
Police say while they were hunting the four accused men, he took steps to evade authorities including changing his hair colour.
But deputy chief magistrate Jelena Popovic released him on bail on strict conditions, including an alcohol ban and regular reporting to police.

She said Rowan Wild, who has no criminal history, had a prima facie right to bail and did not pose an unacceptable risk to the community.
It came after the court heard Rowan Wild went to great lengths to change his appearance and avoid police while authorities hunted the four alleged attackers.
Rowan Wild was the fourth member of the same family to be charged over the November 1 attack.
Brothers Kevin Wild, 28, and Allan Wild, 29, and 20-year-old half-brother Brodie Wild, who was extradited from Queensland on Sunday, are all facing identical charges to Rowan.
During the bail hearing for Rowan Wild at the Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday police said the men were at a family reunion in the Geelong suburb of St Albans Park before they attacked the girl.
The 14-year-old was with a 16-year-old male friend who tried to stop the attack.
The court heard Kevin Wild, the alleged ringleader, kicked and punched the male telling him to “f**k off”.
It was alleged before abducting the girl her friend had yelled at the men to leave her alone because “she’s only 14”.
One of the men allegedly responded: “she’s 18, its all good.”
“The victim cant say, once inside the premises who raped her,” Detective Sen-Cons Liana Goonan told the hearing. “Her recollection is of multiple males.”
Police allege Kevin Wild was the main perpetrator, saying he instigated the attack.
