A THREE-year-old New Zealand girl has died after reportedly being hit in the head with a golf club by one of her siblings.
The incident happened in the Christchurch suburb of Rolleston yesterday afternoon.
Canterbury metro commander Superintendent Lane Todd told stuff.co.nz the girl was rushed to hospital, but couldn’t be saved.
“Inquiries are still continuing to establish what occurred. It appears at this stage that it was a tragic accident involving a sibling of the child.”
He would not comment on the circumstances, but New Zealand media are reporting the three-year-old was hit by her seven-year-old brother with a golf club.
St John Ambulance spokesman told The New Zealand Herald they were alerted to an incident at a Rolleston property at 4.10pm yesterday.
“We sent an ambulance, and three rapid response vehicles, as well as the Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade as co-response,” a St John spokesman said.
Stuff reported the sibling was a similar age to the child who died.
